Speed is the new killer app.
This is not one of those, “I thought of that idea first” complaints. The truth is, I didn’t think of this idea at all. But someone I know did.
And this is not one of those, “someone stole that idea from someone I know” complaints either. Because that’s definitely not the case.
What happened here was the real killer app of the 21st C - speed.
Serial entrepreneurs will tell you that you shouldn’t wait for the best idea you’ve ever had to strike you, you should DO the idea you’ve got. Get it out there, run it up the flagpole, see if it floats people’s boats, have a go ya’ mug, and so on….
This idea, up to and including use of the “now” word, was presented to me by Melvin Polystyrene (name changed to protect the innocent) a few months back for one of our clients. It was a great idea then, and it still is.
There were people on it, until just this minute, figuring out how to get it made. You can stand down everybody, we’ve been beaten to the punch.
The point is, if you’ve got an idea you’ve got to make it happen. Fast.
